I found out tomorrow is National Blonde Brownie Day. I have never made Blonde Brownies *Blondies* before. There, I said it. I know, it is hard to believe but true. I have been thinking about making them for some time now but never did for some reason or another. Well, that did it! I'm making them for my boys. There were several recipes I looked at and used a little of this one and more of that one. Added this and deleted that. You get the idea. I ended up using butterscotch and white chocolate chips in them. By the way, I found out two of my boys do not like butterscotch!

White Chocolate Butterscotch Blonde Brownies
1 cup unbleached all purpose flour
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and at room temperature
1 large egg
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup white chocolate chips
1/8 to 1/4 cup butterscotch chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Spray 8x8 pan with cooking spray
Melt butter and set aside to cool.
Whisk, or stir with a fork, dry ingredients.
Beat egg and brown sugar until fluffy.
Mix chips, or whatever additions you are using, in the flour mix.
Add vanilla, beat.
Add melted butter and beat.
Mix in the flour and chips until all is incorporated. I used a fork.
Put in an 8x8 greased pan. It is very thick. You will need to work with a fork to cover the bottom of the pan. Smooth the top.
Bake for 10 minutes and turn pan around.
Bake another 5 -10 minutes. It is done when lightly browned, the center is set and a toothpick comes out clean or with just a crumb or two.
As always, my oven cooks different than yours. Please adjust time accordingly.
Cool on a wire rack.
My oldest didn't like the butterscotch..drizzling hot fudge over them did the trick!
Enjoy! <3 and hugs!
