Lego Gummies For My Twins Birthday

My boys are turning 6!  Where does the time go?  I have no idea.  It's bittersweet .. I miss the cuddles of newborn babes in my arms.  Giving thanks for the many blessing in my life, these two little miracles and their older brother.  I wonder what the precious little faces looking up at me will become...anxious to see my boys grow and revel in the strength they show in all aspects.  They are becoming wonderful young boys as I treasure each day and tuck away the precious memories of them year by year.

I wanted to make these two special boys something +LEGO  for their birthday celebration.

There are several recipes on the internet.  I was looking for a sweet tart recipe but never found one.  I found a recipe for gummy candy on Instructables.com. and changed it a little.  The cute molds were found on Amazon.  One Lego men and the other is large bricks..duplos.  I ended up cutting some of the bricks in pieces to make different sizes.  It was so fun!  All the children in their classes loved them.  One little boy wanted to know where to get them.  When I told him I made them, he said "he sure wish he mama would make him some."  ~smile~  Do you remember the original Gummy Bears?  Little bears with delicious sweet flavors that are chewy and so good?  These are like them.  I think you could add a little more water if you wanted them to be softer and not so chewy.  Enjoy!

Lego Gummies

one of each mold

1 6 oz box flavored gelatin, I use Jello

Lightly grease (homemade cake release), or spray with non-stick spray, molds.   Mix boiling water and all geleatin until completely dissolved.  Pour into prepared molds.  Put in freezer 15 minute or until set.  Remove  from molds.  Enjoy!

Note:  I'm certain you can make these using fruit juice.  I'll try it and update.

Question...after the fifteen minutes in the freezer these will have the consistency of gummy bears? Are they ok to store room temperature once they set? I ordered the molds and am hoping to make these for my son's class for goodie bags for his sixth bday.

Hi Kristina! Once they were hard, I put some in the refrigerator and left some out. They are fine left out. I still have a few left out and they are still great. After several days, they do look like they have bubbles in them but they still have the same constancy they originally had. Please let me know how they turn out. Happy Birthday to your son! <3 and hugs!
