Cinnamon Ornaments

My boys and I love to make these Cinnamon Ornaments each year.  Hanging from the Christmas Tree or attached to homemade gifts, they will be treasured by all who receive.

Please do not eat the decorations.
Making them could not be easier and oh my...the smell of cinnamon is wonderful!  Use more cinnamon to enhance the smell, saving some to sprinkle and roll.

My hubby found ground cinnamon for .56 at Walmart so these were very affordable to make.

Some recipes call for 1 cup ground cinnamon, I have another Christmas Ornament/Tags recipe that does...by all means use it if you wish. I only used 1 bottle to make these and ended up with 4 large and 4 smaller ornaments.

Cinnamon Ornaments
ingredients

2/3 cup applesauce
2 - 2.37 oz. bottle ground cinnamon plus more to roll dough in

What you need:

drinking straw
cookie cutters
cookie sheets
parchment paper
cooling rack(s)

Directions:

Mix applesauce and ground cinnamon together to form a soft dough.  Add more applesauce if too dry and ground cinnamon if too wet.

Sprinkle a little cinnamon on a surface and roll cinnamon dough out 1/4". Use favorite cookie cutters to make ornaments and tags.  Using a d straw, poke a hole in the top.

Place on parchment lined baking sheet.  Bake in a preheated 200 degree oven for 2 to 2.5 hours until dry. Alternately, you can place on a cooling rack and let dry 2 to 4 days at room temperature, turning as needed.

Decorate if desired. Tie with ribbon or yarn.  Hang on Christmas tree or tie on gift.
