Butterfinger Cake

Do you love candy and cake?  If you are reading this, chances are you do or at least know someone that does.  Either way, I've got you covered with this Butterfinger Cake.  It’s been around a very long time and it could very well be your Mama, and your Grandma, made this cake.  Yes, indeed.  Chocolate, caramel, candy and cool whip!!!!  Shut the front door!  Hurry up and make this for yourself or that someone that you know that needs this.  Needing is a good thing, at least when you are talking Butterfinger Cake.  Right?

Stuffed Mini Corn Muffins

Thinking of a way to get rid of, I mean use up,  hot dogs leftover from the birthday party for the the twins, I decided to make corn muffins.  Then, thoughts turned to the chili I had leftover to top the hot dogs.

Easy DIY Cupcake Toppers

My twins are turning 7!!!  Planning their party just gets more detailed with each turn.  I needed to find cupcake toppers for a class party and couldn't find Angry Birds anywhere.  At least, yesterday afternoon when I searched a few stores.  I decided I would make my own.

Candy Popcorn

I didn't find out until a day ago, that my 5th grader is having a Valentine's Day party!   They have a field trip on Friday, Valentine's Day, that and I just assumed 5th graders didn't celebrate since my son thinks it is babyish to exchange cards.  Awww, where does the time go?  And, just when did my son think he is too old to celebrate?!  As a last minute contribution, I am making Candy Popcorn.  Made with flavored gelatin, it is a breeze to put together, taking literally minutes to make.  It is so colorful and full of flavor, certain to be welcomed by his friends when they open their treat bags.

Blueberry Muffins

I found this simple Blueberry Muffin recipe in an old recipe book my precious grandma gave me in 1993. Wow!  When read aloud, that sounds like an eternity ago!  I suddenly feel antiquated....  These muffins are easy to whip up,  slightly sweet, light, and full of blueberries.  Perfect for breakfast on the go, after school snack or weekend brunch.

Black Bean Salsa

Who doesn't love snacking?  I know we do and we do it often!  There is just something about eating with hands. Hand reaches to chip, to salsa and dip, to veggies (a least one son's hand does) to hungry mouths that await anxiously.  Snack, snack, smack!  Yes, that was my boys! They tend to get a little overzealous with chips and snacks and anything they can make a loud, mouthy sound with.  I love my boys..but let's keep it quiet, okay?  This lip smacking Black Bean Salsa was just another noise in the bowl app, awaiting my hungry boys.  I adapted the recipe from a can of Bush's Best Black Beans!

7 UP Buttery Pan Biscuits

A take on an old recipe that proves to be even better than your grandma's.  Well, maybe not, because y'all know your grandma makes the best, right?  Of course she does!  I bet ya these 7 UP Buttery Pan Biscuits could rank right up there with hers.  And oh,  there are only 4 ingredients!

Pecan Crusted Cobbler for One

As much as I love making my own dough, I also love the convenience of having Rhodes Bake-N-Serv rolls and loaves of frozen dough in my freezer.   Rhodes Bake N Serv White Dinner Rolls make a wonderful, easy topping for this Pecan Crusted Cobbler for One. Take out as many rolls as needed and keep the rest for another amazing dish like Apple Cider Bubble Bread or Baked Chicken and Dumplings.

Alfredo Cauliflower

Have you tried Alfredo Sauce on cauliflower?  If you haven't, you really need to do so.   It is wonderful! The sauce is easily made while the cauliflower cooks.   Broken apart in pieces, or mashed, this could easily be a new comfort dish!

Cream of Broccoli and Mushroom Soup

Two of my oldest son's favorite soup!  He loves broccoli and mushrooms and soup made from both.  I combined the two this morning and he has all but devoured it!  Keeping the bellies full and bodies warm as the temperature drops here in Florida.  Stay safe and warm, my friends!

Homemade Velveeta Cheese

I was so excited to see Michael Symon's alternative recipe for Velveeta Cheese on "The Chew" yesterday. It seems there is a shortage of Velveeta in the east. Most certainly due to the polar vortex that has disrupted the realm of living recently, with unspeakably COLD temperatures.  Thankfully, we live in Florida,  We fuss and complain when the weather gets below 50.  BRRR!  I know...I know!  We have a heat wave compared to most.  Stay warm and safe, dear friends.   If you are out of the smooth and velvety orange cheese...here is a fix for your Velveeta Cheese cravings.

Pumpkin Spice Carrot Cake

Hubby bought me a food processor a few weeks ago and I am just now getting around to figuring out how it operates.  At first, it was very frustrating not having it seal correctly.  Now, it is a breeze to use, I don't know what I did different other than read the directions ~wink~ and love using it!  Yesterday, I decided to make a Pumpkin Spice Carrot Cake....using the food processor.  I wasn't happy with the outcome in the beginning since I ended up with a very wet egg and sugar mixture.  It was not at all what I envisioned, however, I decided to go forward with it anyway.  I'm so glad I did!  Though, I didn't know where I was going with it...pie or cake.  It turned out to be a little of both.  I have also made this cake using my stand mixer and it was tall, moist and wonderful.  My boys ate it all without icing!  Either way, you will love this!
